Tibetan singing bowls are a type of bell that vibrates and produces a rich, deep tone when played. Tibetan singing bowls are said to promote relaxation and offer powerful healing vibrations. 

The cushion is used to place the singing bowl upon, whilst the tone is resonating throughout the bowl. This gives the bowl a supply area to settle upon and allow the tone to vibrate more.
